Digital identity registration (RID) INFN

The Digital Identity Registration System (RID) allows users to self-register in the INFN identity database.

The process provides that registration is always carried out by the user through a two-step procedure:

  • The first step is completely autonomous and consists of self-registration through a specially developed portal, SignUp. At the end of this phase, the user is provided with an INFN-AAI Digital Identity (INFN-ID) with a minimum level of assurance (LoA1 – Level of Assurance 1 – according to ITU-T X.121 specifications). This identity can only be used to access public services (such as the InDiCo agenda, the recruitment system, association requests, and the new UserPortal).
  • The second step, which uses another specially developed tool (UserPortal), where the user can upgrade their INFN-ID to a higher level of assurance (LoA2 – Level of Assurance 2). This can be done in two ways:
    • By accessing the INFN AAI login page through SPID or CIE. In this case, it is advisable to inform the local computing service (calcolo@lists.lns.infn.it) about the completed self-registration, so that the user can be added to the local branch of the users database.
    • Through approval by an internal contact person and verification of the correctness of the entered information, as well as matching the physical identity with the INFN-AAI Digital Identity. For those requesting access to LNS resources, it is essential to specify the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) as the site where identity verification will take place.

At the end of this second phase, the user will have a verified digital identity, which is the basis for submitting further requests, such as access to IT resources (email, VPN, Wi-Fi, etc.).

For access to LNS IT resources, you should contact the computing service via ticket system, which is accessed with the INFN AAI credentials.
